U5-U18 SPRING NON TRAVEL PROGRAM

RGSA Spring 2018 Academy  (non travel)

The RGSA Spring non travel Academy offers specialized training by our qualified professional coaches in a positive, encouraging and age appropriate environment.  Players will be focusing on developing both their individual technical skills along with their team skills that can be practised during a game setting.   Players who enrol in the travel program will be placed in training groups based on age and in accordance to long term player development.  Players may be moved up an age level on the recommendation of the TD staff and volunteer coaches. 


WHAT DOES NON TRAVEL ACADEMY INCLUDE?

  • two training sessions a week on Monday and Wednesday
  • qualified professional coaches for both sessions along with an approved and certified volunteer coach
  • scrimmages when/where possible
  • training on grass and turf where possible


PROGRAM COSTS:

  • U5-U18      $375.00 ($350.00 for early bird)
  • an additional  $35.00 to join the league play ( u8 and older players)
  • Please note that when you register your daughter(s) for spring non travel, there will be a box to check to indicate your desire to be part of the 8 week league play.  Payment will be accepted after confirmation that a team can be formed. 


WHEN DOES IT START, TIME AND WHERE?

  • training begins on Wednesday April 18th and ends on Wednesday  June 13
  • U5-U8         5:15-6:30
  • U9               5:15-6:30/ 6:30-7:45
  • U10             6:30-7:45
  • U11-U12     6:30-7:45
  • U13-U15     7:45-9:00
  • U16-U17     7:45-9:00 ( Tuesday/Thursday) 


Please note that these times/days may change based on number of registrants at particular age groups. 


 Training will take place at Hugh Boyd from April to May and afterwards we will be moving to a grass facility in Richmond for the remaining sessions.  We have requested that when we move to the grass fields that we all have access to a public washroom.  

NEW Option for the Non Travel Players


This year, the RGSA is hoping to offer non travel teams the opportunity to play in an eight (8) week spring league where teams will play other like minded teams throughout the lower mainland.   This new league will have 4 home games that will be played at Boyd on Sundays with a set schedule and 4 away games against other associations.  There will be no games on the May long weekend.

Please note that the Cascade league is for players U8 and older 


KITS:

 We encourage all players to wear the RGSA black training jerseys, black shorts and black socks, all of which can be purchased through Soccer Link.  For those players who will be participating in the Cascadia League, we will be providing loaner kits that will need to be returned at the end of the season. 


The RGSA will be offering all members the opportunity to register

early and receive an early bird rate. To qualify, your registration must be completed fully by Tuesday February 13th 2017 ( this includes payment)


 In order to finalize all the training groups, registration will close on February 25th.


Some teams and players may play at a higher level than their age ( ie a 2006 player may be asked to play at the 2005 level) and this is at the full discretion of the TD Coaches along side the team volunteer coaches. 


The RGSA reserves the right to cancel session based on poor weather conditions and any other situations which would lead to unsafe training environments.  As mentioned previously, the RGSA reserves the right to change training times based on enrolment numbers at any age group.


There will be no refunds after the first session.

The RGSA Spring travel Academy offers specialized training by our qualified professional coaches in a positive, encouraging and age appropriate environment.  Players will be focusing on developing both their individual technical skills along with their team skills that can be practised during a game setting.   Players will be placed in training groups based on age and in accordance to long term player development.  Players may be moved up an age level on the recommendation of the TD staff and volunteer coaches.   All travel teams will train and play under the guidance of our professionally trained TD coaches as well as our certified and approved volunteer head coaches. 


WHAT DOES TRAVEL ACADEMY INCLUDE?

  • two training sessions a week on Tuesday and Thursday
  • qualified professional coaches for both sessions along side approved, certified volunteer head coaches
  • scrimmages when/where possible
  • training on grass and turf where possible
  • two away tournaments for U11-U18
  • one away and one local tournament for U10  


PROGRAM COSTS:

  • U10           $495.00 ( before Feb 13th  525 afterwards)
  • U11-U18   $525.00 (before Feb 13th   550 afterwards)

KITS:

  • as most players in the travel program will already have the new fall kit ( red jersey, red shorts, red socks and black alternate), we will be using these kits for the spring program as well.

TOURNAMENTS:

  • the U10’s will be participating in the local Umbro Challenge held on the May long weekend (May 19-21) in Surrey 
  • U11-U18’s will be participating in the Kamloops Slurpee Cup held on the May long weekend in Kamloops ( May 18-21) 
  • all teams will be participating in the Skagit  Firecracker Tournament in Burlington, Washington held June 15-17th 

This  year, all members will be responsible for booking their own hotel for each of the away tournaments.  Hotels have already been reserved for each tournament and all teams will have the opportunity to stay together as an association.  The RGSA will provide when and where parents are encouraged to book their room(s) with the understanding that rooms are only held to a specified date.

Policy & Rates

for

Players Participating in Coastal / Provincial Cup

 

 

Fall/Winter Season

The fall/winter season consists of regular season games from September to February, and, if applicable, single game knock-out Coastal Cup playoffs starting in early April, with the finals in early May.

 

RGSA Spring Academy Programs

April 16 - June 21

Spring Academy is divided into two programs: Non-Travel and Travel

 

Non-Travel Program

Non-Travel is considered the base rate for Spring Academy: $375

Under the Non-Travel umbrella, there is an additional sub-program called the Cascadia League plays on Sundays. It is from April 22 - June 17.

 

Cascadia League

Cost is an additional $35 for 8 weeks of games.

Team participation in any age groups depends on player registration numbers for each particular age group. Thus, player participation is not guaranteed.

 

Travel Program

The additional cost for this program is strictly based on tournament fees and RGSA professional coaching costs incurred. Costs for this program vary depending on the age.

 

Coastal & Provincial Cups

 

A. Teams in Coastal Cup

Early April - early May

Depending on your team's success in the Coastal Cup, there is the potential for 4 weeks of Cup play and Academy training overlap.

 

Players for which their team is in Coastal Cup have 3 options:

1.    Register for Non-Travel or Travel Academy

·         Cost: $375 + if applicable, travel costs

Player will have 2 Academy sessions per week with RGSA professional coaching , plus tournaments if registered in the Travel program.

At the discretion of the team's volunteer coach, there might be extra team sessions with the volunteer coach and, if available, an RGSA professional coach.

 

2.    Register for half of Non-Travel Academy

·         Cost: $190

The travel program is not available with this option.

Player will have 1 Academy session per week with RGSA professional coaching.

At the discretion of the team's volunteer coach, there might be extra team sessions with the volunteer coach and, if available, an RGSA professional coach.

 

3.    Do not register for Non-Travel or Travel Academy

·         Cost: $0

The travel program is not available with this option.

Player will have 1 Academy session per week with RGSA professional coaching for as long as their team is participating in Coastal Cup only.

At the discretion of the team's volunteer coach, there might be extra team sessions with the volunteer coach and, if available, an RGSA professional coach.

 

B. Teams in Provincial Cup

The week after the July long weekend.

Once Coastal Cup participation is complete, training is at the discretion of the team's volunteer coach. If available and at the coach's discretion, a player will have 1 session per week with RGSA professional coaching as per Fall/Winter programming.

A player must be registered in full or part-time programming of the Non-Travel or Travel Academy to continue Academy training.

 

NOTE:

Players of teams guaranteed a Provincial Cup birth prior to the start of Academy will be allowed the option of half Non-Travel Academy with full travel only if participating as a team. Cost $350

 

 

C. Teams NOT in Provincial Cup

Once Coastal Cup participation is complete, if a player is not registered in full or part-time Non-Travel or Travel Academy, but decides to join, the full cost of the program will apply.
